๋ฐฑWhite ] Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord.

< Gloria > < Creed >

The Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, literally meaning "the Solemnity of the Announcement of the Lord," commemorates the announcement of the Lord's birth. It was formerly known as the "Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary," where "annunciation" refers to the Virgin Mary receiving the news of Jesus' conception from the angel. Since Jesus was believed to have spent nine months in the Virgin Mary's womb, the date of this solemnity is calculated by going back nine months from the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord.

This solemnity traditionally falls on March 25th. However, this year, it is celebrated today, following the directive in the Roman Missal that states, "If this solemnity falls within Holy Week, it is transferred to the Monday after the Second Sunday of Easter."

์˜ค๋Š˜ ์ „๋ก€  Today Liturgy

Today is the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord.
In Nazareth, Mary received the message from the angel that she would conceive and bear a son by the favor of God. She believed and accepted it with faith. We too, following the example of the handmaid of the Lord, Mary, must become Christians who respond, "May it be done to me according to your word."

์ž…๋‹น์†ก  Introit Antiphon Hebrews 10:5-7

When Christ came into the world, he said:
“Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired,
but a body you have prepared for me;
with burnt offerings and sin offerings
you were not pleased.
Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—
I have come to do your will, my God.’”

๋ณธ๊ธฐ๋„  Collect

O God,
who by the message of an angel didst declare to the Virgin Mary

that she should conceive and bear thy Son,

and didst miraculously make her womb the dwelling-place of the Word Incarnate;

grant, we beseech thee, that we who devoutly commemorate this mystery may,

by the intercession of the same Virgin Mother of God, and being made clean of heart,

may devoutly make this novena in her honor.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity

of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen. …….

< "Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son. >

โ–ฅ This is a word from the book of Isaiah.  Is 7:10-14; 8:10
The LORD spoke to Ahaz, saying:
Ask for a sign from the LORD, your God;
let it be deep as the nether world, or high as the sky!
But Ahaz answered,
“I will not ask! I will not tempt the LORD!”
Then Isaiah said:
Listen, O house of David!
Is it not enough for you to weary people,
must you also weary my God?
Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign:
the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son,
and shall name him Emmanuel,
which means “God is with us!”

Brothers and sisters:
It is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats
take away sins.
For this reason, when Christ came into the world, he said:
“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but a body you prepared for me;
in holocausts and sin offerings you took no delight.
Then I said, ‘As is written of me in the scroll,
behold, I come to do your will, O God.’”
First he says, “Sacrifices and offerings,
holocausts and sin offerings,
you neither desired nor delighted in.”
These are offered according to the law.
Then he says, “Behold, I come to do your will.”
He takes away the first to establish the second.
By this “will,” we have been consecrated
through the offering of the Body of Jesus Christ once for all.

๋ณต์Œ  Gospel
< Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son. >

โœ  The Holy Gospel according to Luke. Lk 1:26-38
The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said,
“Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.”
But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
“Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end.”
But Mary said to the angel,
“How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?”
And the angel said to her in reply,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God.”
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.”
Then the angel departed from her.

Almighty God,

์˜์„ฑ์ฒด ํ›„ ๋ฌต์ƒ  Meditation after Communion

In response to the angel's message, "Nothing will be impossible with God," Mary replies, "I am the Lord's servant. May it be done to me according to your word." Through her obedient faith and willingness to surrender herself to God's will, Jesus Christ, who sanctifies us, is born.

์˜์„ฑ์ฒด ํ›„ ๊ธฐ๋„  Prayer after Communion

Lord,
You have strengthened us with the sacrament of true faith.
Grant that we may know and worship the true God, who became man in the Virgin Mary,
and that we may obtain eternal joy by the power of his resurrection.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns

with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.…….

์˜ค๋Š˜์˜ ๋ฌต์ƒ  Today's Meditation

The biblical texts for the Solemnity of the Annunciation emphasize the theme of obedience to God's will.
In the First Reading, God's will is proclaimed as "Immanuel," which means "God with us."
In order to be with us, God took on human form and was born as Jesus Christ.
This plan of God was made possible through the Virgin Mary's response of obedience.
Her "yes" was not simply a passive acceptance, but an active willingness to embrace all that God was asking of her.
Through her obedience, the Creator entered into human history and began the process of our redemption.
The Second Reading highlights Jesus' own obedience to God's will.
It twice repeats his words, "I have come to do your will."
This shows that Jesus was not only willing to be born as a human, but also to live and die in accordance with God's plan.
The Gospel account of the Annunciation takes place in a humble setting, the home of Mary in Nazareth.
This reminds us that God's plan of salvation is not limited to the powerful or the wealthy.
It is available to all who are willing to say "yes" to God, no matter how insignificant they may seem.
The Annunciation is a reminder that God is always with us.
It is also a challenge to us to live our lives in obedience to God's will.
When we do this, we can participate in God's plan of salvation and bring about the kingdom of God on earth.
