Merciful Lord God,

제 1독서  First Reading
< The God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd, has equipped you with every good thing. >

▥ A reading from the Letter to the Hebrews. Hebrews 13:15-17, 20-21
Brothers and sisters:
Through Jesus, let us continually offer God a sacrifice of praise,
that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have;
God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind.

Obey your leaders and defer to them,
for they keep watch over you and will have to give an account,
that they may fulfill their task with joy and not with sorrow,
for that would be of no advantage to you.

May the God of peace, who brought up from the dead
the great shepherd of the sheep
by the Blood of the eternal covenant,
furnish you with all that is good, that you may do his will.
May he carry out in you what is pleasing to him through Jesus Christ,
to whom be glory forever and ever.  Amen.

The Word of the Lord.
◎ Thanks be to God.

화답송  Responsorial Psalm Psalm 23:1-3a, 3b-4, 5, 6

◎ The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
○ The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
      In verdant pastures he gives me repose.
      Beside restful waters he leads me; he refreshes my soul. ◎
○ He guides me in right paths
     for his name's sake.
     Even though I walk in the dark valley
     I fear no evil; for you are at my side
     With your rod and your staff that give me courage. ◎
○ You spread the table before me in the sight of my foes;
     You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.   ◎
○ Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life;
     And I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for years to come. ◎

복음  환호송  Alleluia John 10,27

◎ Alleluia, alleluia..
○ My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord; I know them, and they follow me.

◎ Alleluia, alleluia.

복음  Gospel
< They were like sheep without a shepherd. >

The Holy Gospel according to Mark. Mark 6:30-34
The Apostles gathered together with Jesus
and reported all they had done and taught.
He said to them,
"Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while."
People were coming and going in great numbers,
and they had no opportunity even to eat.
So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place.
People saw them leaving and many came to know about it.
They hastened there on foot from all the towns
and arrived at the place before them.

When Jesus disembarked and saw the vast crowd,
his heart was moved with pity for them,
for they were like sheep without a shepherd;
and he began to teach them many things.

The Gospel of the Lord.
◎ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ

예물 기도  Prayer over the Gifts

Lord,
As we offer these gifts upon Your altar,
Graciously accept them and make them a sacrament of our salvation.
Through Christ our Lord,…….

영성체송 Communion antiphon  Psalm 31(30),17-18 or Matthew 5,3.5

Lord, let Your face shine upon Your servant, and save me in Your mercy.
Since I have called upon You, let me not be put to shame.
< or >

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

영성체 후 기도  Prayer after Communion

Lord,
As we receive this Sacrament of salvation, we humbly pray
That through the power of this pledge of eternal life,
True faith may grow within us.
Through Christ our Lord,…….

오늘의 묵상  Today's Meditation

The story in today's Gospel, where the apostles return to Jesus after fulfilling their mission and report to Him "all they had done and taught" (Mark 6:30), and Jesus, in turn, takes care to bring them to a quiet place to eat and rest, portrays a warm and loving community. A peaceful retreat shared among brothers after hard work is a precious moment that one would not want to be interrupted by anything. Thus, they try to escape the crowd and leave for a secluded place, but the crowd, driven by their longing, reaches the destination ahead of them, even by taking the longer land route instead of the shortcut by boat. Imagine the sight of many people running quickly along the shore of the lake in their desperate eagerness to catch up with Jesus and His disciples.

Today's Gospel tells us that as soon as Jesus disembarked, He saw the crowd and "was moved with compassion for them" (Mark 6:34). The Greek word translated as "had compassion" or "was moved with pity" literally means "to have one’s inner being stirred," referring to the deepest part of human existence, often understood as the bowels. In Korean, this feeling is similar to expressions like "a heart aching with sorrow" or "deeply moved with empathy," evoking the tenderness of a mother's heart and beautifully illustrating the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

According to the Gospel, it seems that Jesus let His disciples rest as planned and faced the crowd alone. Seeing the people like sheep without a shepherd, Jesus’ compassion was so deep that His very being was stirred. Forgetting His own needs for food, rest, and time with His disciples, He devoted Himself entirely to the needs of the people. To forget one’s own concerns and respond to the needs of others is the shortest path to resembling the heart of Jesus.
