[홍/Red] Feast of Saint Mark, evangelist.

< Gloria >

Mark the Evangelist, also known as John Mark, is traditionally considered the author of the Gospel of Mark. He is also known as a companion of Paul and Barnabas on their missionary journeys (Acts 12:25; 13:5,13; 15:37-39; Col 4:10). Originally named John Mark (Acts 12:12,25), he was also a disciple of Peter the Apostle (1 Pet 5:13) and worked primarily in Antioch, Cyprus, and Rome.
Mark the Evangelist is believed to have written the Gospel of Mark in Rome between 65 and 70 AD, primarily based on the teachings of Peter the Apostle. This gospel is considered the oldest of the four gospels.

입당송 Introit Antiphon Mark 16:15

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Alleluia.

본기도 Collect

O God,
Who chose the blessed evangelist Mark to proclaim the gospel,
Grant that we too, by his teaching,
May faithfully follow Christ our Lord.
The Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
Fill our hearts with love and grace,
And strengthen us to live according to your will.
Through Christ our Lord,
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God, forever and ever.
Amen.

제 1독서 First Reading
< My son Mark sends you his greetings. >

▥ These are the words of 1 Peter. 1 Pt 5:5b-14
Beloved:
Clothe yourselves with humility
in your dealings with one another, for:
God opposes the proud
but bestows favor on the humble.
So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God,
that he may exalt you in due time.
Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you.
Be sober and vigilant.
Your opponent the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion
looking for someone to devour.
Resist him, steadfast in faith,
knowing that your brothers and sisters throughout the world
undergo the same sufferings.
The God of all grace
who called you to his eternal glory through Christ Jesus
will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you
after you have suffered a little.
To him be dominion forever.  Amen.
I write you this briefly through Silvanus,
whom I consider a faithful brother,
exhorting you and testifying that this is the true grace of God.
Remain firm in it.
The chosen one at Babylon sends you greeting, as does Mark, my son.
Greet one another with a loving kiss.
Peace to all of you who are in Christ.

The Word of the Lord.
◎ Thanks be to God.

화답송 Responsorial Psalm Ps 89:2-3,6-7,16-17(◎ 2)

◎ For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
or:

◎ Alleluia.
○ The favors of the LORD I will sing forever;
    through all generations my mouth
    shall proclaim your faithfulness.
    For you have said,
    “My kindness is established forever”;
in heaven you have confirmed your faithfulness. ◎
○ The heavens proclaim your wonders, O LORD,
    and your faithfulness,
in the assembly of the holy ones.
For who in the skies can rank with the LORD?
Who is like the LORD among the sons of God? ◎
○ Blessed the people who know the joyful shout;
in the light of your countenance,
    O LORD, they walk.
At your name they rejoice all the day,
and through your justice they are exalted. ◎

복음  환호송 Alleluia 1Cor 1:23a-24b

◎ Alleluia, alleluia.
○ We proclaim Christ crucified;
he is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

복음 Gospel
< Proclaim the Gospel to every creature. >

The Holy Gospel according to Mark. Mk 16:15-20
Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them:
“Go into the whole world
and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved;
whoever does not believe will be condemned.
These signs will accompany those who believe:
in my name they will drive out demons,
they will speak new languages.
They will pick up serpents with their hands,
and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them.
They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them,
was taken up into heaven
and took his seat at the right hand of God.
But they went forth and preached everywhere,
while the Lord worked with them
and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.

The Gospel of the Lord.
◎ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ

예물 기도 Prayer over the Gifts

O Lord,
On this glorious feast day of the blessed Mark,
As we offer the sacrifice of praise,
we earnestly pray
That you may grant us the strength
to always proclaim the gospel with fervor.
May our lives, like his,
Be a shining witness to your love and mercy.
Through Christ our Lord,
Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
One God, forever and ever.
Amen.

감사송 Preface
< Eucharistic Prayer II for the Feast of the Apostles
: Apostles, foundation and witnesses of the Church

Holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
Through our Lord Jesus Christ,
It is just and right, our duty and our salvation,
Always and everywhere to give thanks to you,
Father, through him.
For you willed that, from the apostles as the foundation,
Your holy and eternal church might be built up,
And that they might be the pillars and ground of the faith,
And the heralds of your glory.
Therefore, with all the angels of heaven,
We now acclaim your glory, singing forever:

< Let us pray silently for a while in union with Christ. >

영성체 후 기도 Prayer after Communion

Almighty God,
Sanctify us through the Holy Eucharist,
Which we have received from the holy altar of God.
Grant that we may faithfully believe
The Gospel that the blessed Mark has handed down to us.
Our Lord...

오늘의 묵상 Today's Meditation

The Gospel of Mark originally ended at chapter 16, verse 8. However, the verses we read today, from 9 to 20, were added later to emphasize the resurrection, ascension, and mission of proclaiming the gospel. Along with the mission, "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to every creature," it is said that "the Lord worked with them, confirming the word by signs that followed." While the subjects "you" and "the Lord" correspond, it declares that while proclaiming the gospel is our task, the Lord himself will complete the journey.
The reading tells us the specific methods and processes of the content of the gospel. The expression "you" presents what we should do, and the sentences that begin with "he" tell us what God will do. "You" all put on the garment of humility and treat each other with respect. ... "He" will exalt you. "You" cast all your anxiety on him. ... "He" cares for you. "You" stand firm in your faith and resist the devil. ... "He" himself will ... establish you firmly.
Proclaiming the gospel is not done by words, persuasion, or coercion, but by witnessing a God-centered daily life. First, we can make a new start today with just the word. "Put on the garment of humility and treat each other with respect. ... Cast all your anxiety on him. ... Be vigilant and stay awake" (reading). Then God "will work with them, confirming the word they speak by signs that follow" (gospel). The one who completes evangelization is not man but God.
