[๋ฐฑ/White] Friday of the Second Week of Easter.

์ž…๋‹น์†ก  Introit Antiphon Revelation 5:9-10

Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive the scroll and to open its seals,
for you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
people from every tribe and language and people and nation.
You have made them a kingdom and priests to our God,
and they will reign on the earth.
Alleluia.

๋ณธ๊ธฐ๋„  Collect

O God, the hope and light of the faithful,
look graciously upon us who earnestly beseech you,
and grant that we may always praise you
with fitting prayers and sacrifices of praise.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

์ œ 1๋…์„œ  First Reading
< The apostles left,
rejoicing that they had been considered
worthy to suffer dishonor for the name of Jesus. >

โ–ฅ A reading from the Acts of the Apostles. Acts 5:34-42
A Pharisee in the Sanhedrin named Gamaliel,
a teacher of the law, respected by all the people,
stood up, ordered the Apostles to be put outside for a short time,
and said to the Sanhedrin, "Fellow children of Israel,
be careful what you are about to do to these men.
Some time ago, Theudas appeared, claiming to be someone important,
and about four hundred men joined him, but he was killed,
and all those who were loyal to him
were disbanded and came to nothing.
After him came Judas the Galilean at the time of the census.
He also drew people after him,
but he too perished and all who were loyal to him were scattered.
So now I tell you,
have nothing to do with these men, and let them go.
For if this endeavor or this activity is of human origin,
it will destroy itself.
But if it comes from God, you will not be able to destroy them;
you may even find yourselves fighting against God."
They were persuaded by him.
After recalling the Apostles, they had them flogged,
ordered them to stop speaking in the name of Jesus,
and dismissed them.
So they left the presence of the Sanhedrin,
rejoicing that they had been found worthy
to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name.
And all day long, both at the temple and in their homes,
they did not stop teaching and proclaiming the Christ, Jesus.

๋ณต์Œ Gospel
< Jesus gave to those
who were seated as much as they wanted. >

โœ  The Holy Gospel according to John.  Jn 6:1-15
Jesus went across the Sea of Galilee.
A large crowd followed him,
because they saw the signs he was performing on the sick.
Jesus went up on the mountain,
and there he sat down with his disciples.
The Jewish feast of Passover was near.
When Jesus raised his eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming to him,
he said to Philip, "Where can we buy enough food for them to eat?"
He said this to test him,
because he himself knew what he was going to do.
Philip answered him,
"Two hundred days' wages worth of food would not be enough
for each of them to have a little."
One of his disciples,
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him,
"There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish;
but what good are these for so many?"
Jesus said, "Have the people recline."
Now there was a great deal of grass in that place.
So the men reclined, about five thousand in number.
Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks,
and distributed them to those who were reclining,
and also as much of the fish as they wanted.
When they had had their fill, he said to his disciples,
"Gather the fragments left over,
so that nothing will be wasted."
So they collected them,
and filled twelve wicker baskets with fragments
from the five barley loaves that had been more than they could eat.
When the people saw the sign he had done, they said,
"This is truly the Prophet, the one who is to come into the world."
Since Jesus knew that they were going to come and carry him off
to make him king,
he withdrew again to the mountain alone.

The Gospel of the Lord.
โ—Ž Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ

์˜ˆ๋ฌผ ๊ธฐ๋„ Prayer over the Gifts

Lord,
Graciously accept the offering of your family,
and by your help and protection,
may we not lose what we have received,
and may we also receive the eternal gift.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Amen.

๊ฐ์‚ฌ์†ก Preface
< Easter Proclamation 1: The Mystery of the Paschal >

It is truly right and just,
our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
O Lord, holy Father, almighty and everlasting God.
But on this night, above all nights,
we are bound to praise you with joy and gladness,
for on this night Christ our Passover has been sacrificed.
He is the true Lamb who has taken away the sins of the world.
By his death he has destroyed our death,
and by his rising to life he has restored us to life.
Therefore, the whole world exults in gladness,
and the choirs of angels sing in heaven.
The redeemed rejoice on earth,
and all creation is radiant
with the splendor of your glory.

์˜์„ฑ์ฒด์†ก Communion antiphon Romans 4:25

He was delivered over to death for our sins
and was raised to life for our justification.
Alleluia.

์˜์„ฑ์ฒด ํ›„ ๋ฌต์ƒ Meditation after Communion

< Let us pray silently for a while in union with Christ. >

์˜์„ฑ์ฒด ํ›„ ๊ธฐ๋„ Prayer after Communion

Lord,
You have redeemed us by the cross of your Son.
Keep us safe by your love,
and bring us to the glory of the risen Christ.
The Son lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

์˜ค๋Š˜์˜ ๋ฌต์ƒ Today's Meditation

Gamaliel, a renowned scholar, is mentioned in the writings of Jewish rabbis as a central figure in the school of his time. Even Paul, who studied under him, boasts of his education (Acts 22:3). This esteemed scholar warns, "If this plan or this undertaking is of human origin, it will fail; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them." (Acts 5:38-39). Here, he distinguishes between the works of man and those of God.
How can we, as ordinary believers, differentiate between the two? Today's Gospel provides an answer.
A crowd of about five thousand men follows Jesus. Concerned about their hunger, Jesus asks Philip where to buy food. Philip's response reflects the inadequacy of their resources: "Two hundred denarii would not be enough to buy enough bread for each of them to have a bite." (John 6:7).
A boy with five barley loaves and two fish then appears. To human eyes, this seems insufficient to feed the multitude. Yet, God works through such seemingly insignificant and easily overlooked means to accomplish His purposes. He starts small and achieves great results. This is the way of God.
The apostles rejoice at being "worthy to suffer dishonor for the name of Jesus" (Acts 5:41). They realize they are following in Jesus' footsteps, enduring humiliation and misunderstanding while quietly working for God's glory.
Being despised and ignored is not merely a wearisome experience. Through small, seemingly insignificant things, God accomplishes His work and reveals His glory.
