[ ์ž/Purple ] Holy Thursday - Chrism Mass Chrism Mass.

< Gloria

On this day, the bishop celebrates Mass with his priests, demonstrating the unity and communion between the bishop and the presbyters. He blesses and consecrates the holy oils that will be used throughout the year. During the Mass, the priests also publicly renew the vows they made at their ordination, committing themselves to be even more faithful to their ministry. The diocesan ministers receive the holy oils and use them to celebrate the sacraments (baptism, confirmation, and anointing of the sick) throughout the year. This demonstrates the solidarity of the entire diocese in the celebration of the sacraments.

O God,
Through the anointing of the Holy Spirit,
you raised your Son, Jesus Christ, as Lord.
We ask that you would also consecrate us,
that we may become witnesses to salvation in the present world.
Through the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

< The Lord has anointed me and
sent me to proclaim good news to the poor
and to give the oil of joy. >

โ–ฅ This is a word from the book of Isaiah.  Is 61:1-3a, 6a, 8b-9
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me;
He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly,
to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
and release to the prisoners,
To announce a year of favor from the LORD
and a day of vindication by our God,
to comfort all who mourn;
To place on those who mourn in Zion
a diadem instead of ashes,
To give them oil of gladness in place of mourning,
a glorious mantle instead of a listless spirit.

You yourselves shall be named priests of the LORD,
ministers of our God shall you be called.

I will give them their recompense faithfully,
a lasting covenant I will make with them.
Their descendants shall be renowned among the nations,
and their offspring among the peoples;
All who see them shall acknowledge them
as a race the LORD has blessed.

๋ณต์Œ  Gospel
< The Lord has anointed me with oil,
and the Spirit of the Lord has come upon me. >

โœ   The Holy Gospel according to Luke.  Lk 4:16-21
Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had grown up,
and went according to his custom
into the synagogue on the sabbath day.
He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah.
He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.

Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down,
and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
He said to them,
“Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”

๊ฐ์‚ฌ์†ก  Preface
< The Priesthood of Christ and the Ministry of Priests >

Holy Father, almighty and everlasting God,
It is truly right and our duty to give you thanks at all times and in all places.
For you anointed your only Son with the oil of the Holy Spirit,
And made him the high priest of the new and everlasting covenant.
In your wonderful providence, you have established the sacred order
So that the one priesthood of Christ might be perpetuated in the Church.
Christ, the King and Priest, has made his people a royal priesthood,
And in his love for his brothers he has chosen men
And through the anointing of the Holy Spirit
Has made them sharers in his sacred ministry.
In his name they offer the sacrifice of salvation for all people,
They celebrate the Passover banquet with the Lord's family,
They lovingly tend the flock of the faithful,
They nourish them with the word of God,
And they sanctify them with the sacraments.
For the sake of their brothers and for the sake of the Lord,
They offer their very lives,
And they strive to conform themselves to the image of Christ,
Constantly bearing witness to their faith and love for the Father.
Therefore, with all the angels and saints,
We praise you and we glorify you.
Amen.

์˜ค๋Š˜์˜ ๋ฌต์ƒ  Today's Meditation

Today's Gospel tells us about what happened in the synagogue of Nazareth when Jesus began his public ministry. Perhaps because it was the beginning of his ministry, it summarizes Jesus' mission in the following way:
1. Jesus goes to the synagogue on the Sabbath.
The community that meets God is the most important place for him. The "Sabbath" and "synagogue" of the Gospel correspond to the "Sunday" and "church" of Christianity. Are our Sundays and parish communities places where God works?
2. Jesus reads from the Scripture.
The Scripture was the guide for Jesus' teaching and actions, and love for the word was the core of everything he did. It is important to note that today's Gospel does not begin with a personal story, but with Jesus quoting the "word of God."
3. Jesus is anointed with the Spirit.
Through the anointing, the Holy Spirit descends, and then the mission and task are carried out. "He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
4. All eyes are on Jesus.
What kind of look was it? Curiosity, wonder, pride, concern, etc. may have been mixed together, but one thing is clear: Jesus is a person who receives people's attention and expectations.
Today's reading declares, "You shall be called priests of the Lord, and men shall speak of you as ministers of our God." The work that Jesus did is the mission and task of priests.
Today is a day to celebrate priests and deacons who continue the work of Jesus. Let us deeply thank them for their dedication and pray together that they may carry out their sacred mission with a constant and sincere attitude.
